A note from our chairman

Dear all,

I hope you are staying well in what continues to be a troubling and uncertain time.

It’s been a difficult year for SPADS, as it has across the Performing Arts sector.

If you have been keeping up with us on social media, you will have seen the unfortunate but inevitable decisions we have had to take in relation to our production of Legally Blonde and our annual Pantomime (this year was set to be Beauty and the Beast). The safety of our audience and members is of paramount importance, meaning these cancellations are absolutely necessary.

The current hiatus is unlike anything we’ve seen at SPADS – this is our first Christmas without a production since 1958! It will be a tough time for the group, who are such a tight-knit bunch. The reality of not being able to work on productions together is gutting.

Whilst the future remains shrouded in uncertainty, we remain hopeful for 2021. If circumstance allow, we plan to return with our Legally Blonde production in the Summer, followed of course by our traditional family Pantomime at the end of the year. We really can’t wait to get back to (safely) entertaining the local community again!

There are plans in the works to produce an online variety show this December, so look out for that across our social channels.

In the meantime, the committee remain in regular contact via video call and continue to plan in hope of a return normal in the near future.

From all of us at SPADS – please, stay well!

Until we meet again,

Peter Wright – Chairman
